The Republican and Democratic national conventions are, like everything else it seems, more social this year. Following the goings-on across platforms can be a challenge but rewards those who look around.
Here’s how to follow the conventions on social media:
Republican National Convention
The Republican National Convention runs Aug. 27-30 in Tampa, Fla., barring any interruption from Tropical Storm Isaac heading that way.
In addition to its main website for event information, the Republican National Convention has:
A Facebook page and a Google+ page for conversation and photographs.
Watch live and recorded video on the RNC’s YouTube channel.
On Twitter, follow the hashtags #RNC2012 and #GOP2012 and the handle @GOPConvention.
On your mobile phone, text “convention” to 99000 to get Republican National Convention updates via text message.

Democratic National Convention
The Democratic National convention runs Sept. 4-6 in Charlotte, N.C. See the full schedule on the convention website. President Obama has aconvention Web page as well.
The Democratic National Convention has a Facebook page and Google+ page for conversation and updates.
Organizers are asking people to share pictures of themselves on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Flickr with an “I’m there” sign telling President Obama you’ll be there, too. Print your own “I’m there” sign.
